  • This 12 day travel insight Vietnam offers a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s people, culture and landscapes. From Hanoi – the historic and colonial Capital to Halong Bay, famed for its beautiful landscapes (as seen in the film “Indochine”, starring Catherine Deneuve and Vincent Perez).  You will have the chance to journey from the peaceful, quiet beautifully preserved streets of old Hoi An and Hue to the busy avenues of Saigon. You will also have the chance to visit the very foundations of the revolution and some of the major historic sites of the Vietnam War such as the Cu Chi Tunnels. You can also experience Vietnamese rural life on a tour of the Mekong delta, visiting its people and villages.

BRIEF ITINERARY:
Day 1: Hanoi Arrival
Upon arriving in Hanoi, our tour guide will personally meet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Hanoi City tour
Full-day City Tour in Hanoi – Vietnam’s artistic and intellectual capital.

Day 3: Hanoi – Halong Bay
Departing for Halong Bay – designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site by car/ minivan/ coach.

Day 4: Halong – Hanoi
Morning continue to enjoy the cruise, afternoon return to Hanoi.

Day 5: Hanoi – Hue
Free time until transfer to the airport for a flight to Hue at noon time.

Day 6: Hue City tour
Enjoy a full day city tour of Hue best known sightseeing.

Day 7: Hue – Da Nang – Hoi An
Travel Hue to Hoi An by Car/minivan/coach

Day 8: Hoi An half day tour
Enjoy a walking tour of Hoi An historical sites.

Day 9: Hoi An – Da Nang – Saigon
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Saigon.

Day 10: Saigon – Cu Chi – Tay Ninh – Saigon
Visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, the former stronghold of the Viet Cong Then visit the Cao Dai Holly See Temple.

Day 11: Saigon – Vinh Long – Saigon

Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

Day 2: Hanoi City tour (B/L)
Full-day City Tour in Hanoi – Vietnam’s artistic and intellectual capital. We will visit Hanoi’ s main cultural attractions, including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, his House on Stilts, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Ethnology Museum and the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple.
We will also exploring the fascinating Old Quarter and it’s hundreds of specialty shops selling silk clothing, lacquer ware, embroidered linens, furniture, bamboo, cooking utensils, ceremonial objects and more. Enjoy people-watching at one of many stylish cafes or shop for impressive modern art in some of the city’s many galleries. It’s also a great place to explore on foot with numerous photo opportunities.
At the end of the day, you can enjoy the famous traditional water puppetry show in Thang Long Theatre where you will have a chance to experience an overview of daily life in Vietnam’s rural areas in dramatic form. Back to the hotel and overnight in Hanoi.

Day 3: Hanoi – Halong (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we will depart for Halong Bay – designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and boasting scenery made famous by the French film “Indochine”. Wondrous Halong Bay is truly one of Vietnam’s most impressive scenic sights. We embark on a boat to explore some of the many beautiful islands and grottos. Sailing past the evocatively shaped islets and dramatic caves of Halong Bay can be a magical experience. Along the way we will anchor for a leisurely swim in a secluded cove and an enjoyable visit to one of the many hidden grottoes beneath towering cliffs.

Day 4: Halong – Hanoi (B/L)
We will wake up in the morning to the calming sound of the waves breaking on the nearby islands. Enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and relax. Sitting on the upper deck, we can enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the rocky islands rising from the crystal-clear waters of the Bay. The peace here is absolute; we can hear only birds singing, cicadas chirping and the gentle lapping of the waves against our boat, the perfect soundtrack to accompany the fresh air and gentle breeze.
Later, we will explore Sung Sot (Amazing) cave and then swim and relax at Ti Top beach. The boat will then start cruising back and brunch buffet will be served. After arriving back at harbor by 12:00 noon, we will drive back to Hanoi.
We arrive in Hanoi around 16:00, check in the hotel and relax.

Day 5: Hanoi – Hue (B)
You are free at leisure until being transferred to the airport for a flight to Hue. Hue is an ancient romantic city, famous for its magnificent architecture including the Citadel, palaces, pagodas and royal tombs built under the 13 emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty against a poetic background of greenery on the banks of the Perfume River. Hue was recognized as the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1993. Hue has represented the cultural and spiritual centre of Vietnam since ancient times. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to hotel in Hue. The rest of day is free time at leisure.

Day 6: Hue City tour (B/L)
This morning, we will board a dragon boat to cruise down the Perfume River to Thien Mu pagoda. Thien Mu pagoda is one of the best-loved pagodas in Vietnam and is considered by many to be the unofficial symbol of Hue. It is an active Buddhist monastery with its origins dating back to 1601.
We then visit another pagoda for an elaborately prepared vegetarian lunch, which will be served by the nuns of the pagoda. This gives a fascinating insight into the life of religious people in the area. After lunch we visit the tomb and monument of King Tu Duc which is located in a very beautiful area. This is an opportunity to learn more about Nguyen Kings and to enjoy the spectacular landscape.
We return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 7: Hue – Da Nang – Hoi An (B/L)
This morning we drive over the mighty Hai Van Pass and take in the spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and famous Long Co fishing village. On the way we visit the Cham Museum where the remaining evidence of the fascinating Champa civilization can be viewed. We then visit the Marble Mountain, which is a maze of caves and temples, hidden with five sacred marble rocks.

Day 8: Hoi An half day tour (B)
Located on the north bank of the Thu Bon river, the historic town of Hoi An was once one of South East Asia’s major international ports and today it still retains that special old-world feel. Enjoy a walking tour through the Old Quarters to see the town’s landmarks of Japanese Covered Bridge, ancient Assembly Hall, Phuc Kien Temple. Free at leisure in the afternoon.

Day 9: Hoi An – Da Nang – Saigon (B)
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Saigon. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Saigon half day city tour includes the Notre Dame Cathedral, Post Office, and the Museum of History to see some interesting displays and photographs following the path of the revolution. Then visit the Reunification Palace for a glimpse into the lifestyle of the democratic regime of former South Vietnam.

Day 10: Saigon – Cu Chi – Tay Ninh – Saigon (B)
A full day tour to Cu Chi, located about 70 km from Saigon, where you will visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, the former stronghold of the Viet Cong with a network of tunnels three levels deep stretching over 200 km. Then we visit the Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh and learn about its unique world religion.

Day 11: Saigon – Vinh Long – Saigon (B/L/-)
Start early in the morning, escaping from the busy city, we have one day cruise excursion with a drive to Cai Be around 10.00 am. The tour will start with the visit of Cai Be colorful floating market. This is lively market with vendors selling ranges of goods on boats. We will proceed by boat to visit some local home factories such as rice paste making, rice pop corn, coco candies, and longan drying and processing. Cruise the local sampan through the maze of canals to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the countryside.
Then we land and ride the bikes or walk on the village paths. Visit nursery garden of Mr Tam Ho and enjoy local traditional music. Continue to visit bamboo-basket making and the brick & pottery kilns village. We drive back to Ho Chi Minh City in the late afternoon.

Day 12: Saigon Departure (B)
